Welll, well, well. Just like that, the Arizona Diambondbacks Fantasy Camp has come to a close. Today was our closing banquet. And while it had the awkward “linner” time of 3PM-5PM, it provided the best capstone to the end of the week. Each coach gave out their MVP awards. I didn’t win (obviously) but it was cool to lift up other teammates that did. They also raffled off signed jerseys of the coaches. I won a signed jersey of my coach, Mark Grace, and it was amazing for two reasons.
For one, I think Mark and I really bonded over the week. He’s so good at what he does and he never “gave up” on me when goings got tough. I also overheard he considered my the nicest guy and a cool dude, so I’ll take that. When I got up and took a picture of him with his jersey I told him that I was glad I won, because I was too shy to ask for a photograph. That was the second reason.
The vibes were good. While everyone is sore as hell, (My official tally: No breaks or ruptures, but pulled groin, sore quads, sore right deltoid), you can tell people are already looking forward to next year. And while I gave you my half week update, I give my updated thoughts below:
Night Six 11/6
As of 5PM on Friday November 6th, we were dismissed from camp. I have to pack my bag, complete with the dirty clothes I used in the final “consolation game” of the season. (I went 2 for 2 of Friday, 9 out of 20 overall. Ya boy came back!!). I have a short detour to Denver on Saturday for work before heading home on Sunday.
If you’ve been reading this all week, I want to thank you. Didn’t know what was the best way to present this, but I hoped a daily update of my adventures (or misadventures) could potentially help other campers who are thinking of joining up.
Okay y’all. Back to your regularly scheduled programing next week on JTS
