The first “full day” of camp was something wild. The fields were wet from the rain of the last couple of days, so instead of scrimmage games, we did evaluation drills in fielding, hitting, and pop flies. Ya boy ain’t the most athletic (as they are younger campers), and I don’t have the best “heads-up” decision making (as there are older campers with more on-field experience) but it was fun to get out there. My thick thighs got my baseball pants feeling like yoga ones. Which would be a compliant in some situations, but now I get why people wear yoga pants to the grocery store.
I ended up winning my first game after recording camp’s first strikeout. Yup, that was sobering, hahaha. But I came back and 2 for my next 2 with the game winning RBI so I came up on top. Not sure how I’m going to make it playing 5 more games this week (five, if we make the championship game). People say baseball is slow and boring but it takes a toll on ya body!
